LESSONS
FROM THE IROKO TREE.
Do you know?
The average life span of the Iroko tree is said to be between 200- 400 years. Many
of us will be born after the Iroko tree has been planted and will exit long before
it but the Iroko will still stay standing.
How is that
possible?
The Iroko tree deepens its root as far
as it can. It keeps spreading its root deeper into the soil, gaining depth and
gathering momentum; knowing fully it will be around for a very long time and
therefore it needs to prepare for the heavy rainfall, the storms that do come,
the dry harmattan weather but the deeper its root, the better it can stand firm
in the day of trouble.
Build up your
strength!
The storms of life will come unannounced
and it may happen at your weakest, most vulnerable point but when your roots go
deep and strong, the storms will only come and go, but you will remain stable,
unshaken.
Whatever you do, please, deepen your
root in rich soil that will allow you to stretch, spread and stand firm. This will
enable you to withstand whatever storms that may arise!
For your finances: Your Emergency fund is your Iroko tree when life throws its surprises at you. Imagine your child suddenly falls sick and
needs to be admitted, your car developed issues and the engine has to be
